This restaurant boasts an enviable location in the Ligongdi area; it sits right on the edge of Jinji Lake (Jinji Hu) with a direct view across the waters to the opposite end of the city. The interiors have been furnished to take full advantage of the restaurant location, with floor-to-ceiling windows that present dramatic scenes of the lake, and allow plenty of bright sunlight to illuminate the indoor spaces. In the evenings, a pianist provides light entertainment, which is a refreshing change from the usual staple of piped-in muzak in many of Suzhou’s other restaurants. Apart from the ambience, the food is also good and beautifully presented. Expect crowd pleasers such as grilled steaks and pasta dishes, along with other favorites including seafood and foie gras. We recommend the scallops with caviar and truffle sauce as an appetizer, and the desert platter that looks almost too pretty to eat. In the warmer months, ask to be seated on the outside dining patio. The area is constructed out of a wooden platform erected directly over the waters, and the evening breeze makes the dinner experience a lovely treat.
